Who We Are

The Seattle Gaels Irish Football and Hurling Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Seattle, Washington, dedicated to promoting the Irish sports of Hurling, Camogie, and Gaelic Football to men, women, and youth in the Pacific Northwest.

An affiliate of the Irish heritage club, the Seattle Gaels seeks to promote a better understanding of Irish culture through sports. The Gaels also promote the values of sportsmanship, cooperation, physical fitness, and community engagement through all of their annual programming.

What We Do

The Seattle Gaels’ season runs from April through the beginning of September. During that time, the club sponsors a variety of events and activities in support of its mission.

  • Open Field Day, an annual event at which anyone is welcome to learn about and try Gaelic football, Hurling, and Camogie free of charge, with all equipment provided.
  • Bi-weekly practices from April through September, where anyone can learn the rules, positions, and skills necessary to the sport.
  • Youth field days. Our membership visits interested high schools and provides a hands-on demonstration for interested students.
  • City League Games are the opportunity to put game skills into practice in a friendly, intra-squad competition.
  • Tournament travel, representing the Pacific Northwest at Irish sports tournaments throughout North America.
We host our very own annual tournament in Seattle, which is entering its third year. It attracts players from across the country to play in a round-robin tournament over a weekend in June.
  • Annual Community Charity Drive, where the Gaels select a local nonprofit for the membership to support. Past events have included a blood drive, canned food and clothing drives, and other volunteer and fundraising efforts.

Why We Need You

In order to defray the costs of putting on events, field rentals, and providing equipment, as well as travel-related expenses, the Seattle Gaels rely on contributions and sponsorships from local businesses. For 2012, we have a variety of sponsorships available. We welcome contributions in any amount, and we can develop custom sponsorships to suit any level of support.
We also have events that we put on throughout the season to fundraise, which in the past have included an auction, a golf tournament, and more.
